About Us

Givlife was established in 2008 in Kent Street Cannington, by Reverend Ray Gullaci and five members of the Hope City Church community.

Since the church's inception in 1995, it has been providing support to helpless and homeless people.  The increase in the number of people in distress instigated the establishment of Givlife to provide for this need in the community.

Givlife (ABN 44 044 110 068) is incorporated as a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) and has endorsement as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) giving it entitlement to receive income tax deductible gifts.

Role Model: Joe Rossi – Youth Alive Director, Western Australia

I was raised in a traditional Italian family by loving parents who provided for me and my four sisters. Growing up I developed an understanding of the importance of family support and acceptance and saw how unconditional love can overcome the most difficult circumstances. I married in 1998 and just over 3 months later I took on the role of Youth Pastor at my local Church. This is where my journey of working with young people began. Over the last 11 years I have seen the great need that exists in our state and nation for young people to be acknowledged for who they are. Young people want to belong and fit in. They are looking for acceptance and all too often they look in the wrong places.

I am currently the State Director for Youth Alive WA an organisation who host large scale drug and alcohol free events for the youth of our state. Youth Alive is a national organisation with an office in each state. Youth Alive WA sees around 10,000 young people attend their events each year. I also oversee the Youth Department at Hope City Church which in cooperation with Givlife, runs a Friday night drop-in centre for young people in the Cannington area.

The Givlife Friday night drop in centre makes it easy for local young people to get together and find something that empowers them, where they fit in and form friendships. It’s a place where unconditional love and support will be offered. Places like this make a difference within our community and I am throwing my support behind it.

Role Model: Daniel Gullaci - International Percussionist with Cirque De Soleil

I started playing drums at age 9. I grew up playing in church in the Cannington area. My parents are pastors so I got to play in the music team almost every week. I owe a lot to that because it taught me the ‘band situation’ – even though I didn’t realize it at the time. I graduated from Rehoboth Christian School in Cannington and was accepted into West Australian Academy of Performing Arts where I studied for three years, under Ric Eastman and Chris Tarr - awesome guys!

After graduating, I worked at the Sheraton Seoul, Korea, with a jazz outfit called ’Red Shoes’ for 4 months and gigged around, actively working in church music events and trying to build up my playing.

In 2005 I entered a southern Pacific drumming competition and was honoured to have been chosen in the final best three. I was also invited to audition for the famous Cirque du Soleil’s “Quidam” production. I was totally spun out when I got the gig.

That weekend changed my life and now 4 years later, I am still part of the “Quidam” production having played in famous cities and venues all over the world. I am currently in Brazil, having just left Edinburgh! The best perk that comes with a gig like this is that you get to meet some incredible musos from around the world.

I have even hung with the ‘Beuna Vista Social Club’. But nothing beats just hanging with my mates in Perth and jamming with my brother Matt or doing a solo gig in the Givlife Centre.

I am so grateful to God and my family and friends for their support and love. We all need the love and support of others to turn our lives around and make our dreams come to life.
